Alexis Vanegas
Alexis Vanegas is a Mexican actor born in Mexico City whose career has developed between Mexico and the United States across television, film, theater, and independent productions.
His first experiences in the entertainment industry began in Mexico, where he worked in commercials and advertising projects. In 2010, he traveled to Guatemala to take part in Ciudad Vintage, a production by Guatemalan fashion house Saúl E. Méndez held along Paseo de la Sexta in Guatemala City’s historic center. Vanegas participated in a photo shoot specifically conceived for the event’s visual presentation, with images of his face projected on a large scale during the fashion show.
After settling in South Florida, Vanegas formally began pursuing his acting career, initially working in theater and independent audiovisual productions. One of his first professional on-camera projects was Somewhere Else (2015), in which he played Aleko. The production became the inaugural series of iaSeries, a platform built around an interactive fiction concept that allowed audiences to influence the direction of its stories. Producer Kevin Canache approached Vanegas and actress Isis Carranza with the project, which would ultimately serve as the platform’s launch.
His work soon led him to Spanish-language television in the United States, where he appeared in Telemundo productions including Eva la Trailera (2016), Silvana Sin Lana (2016), and La Fan (2017).
A significant opportunity in this stage of his career came with Jenni Rivera: Mariposa de Barrio (2017), Telemundo’s biographical series inspired by the life of Jenni Rivera. Vanegas was cast as Adán Terríquez, Rivera’s trusted fashion designer and the creator of many of the iconic gowns and looks that became part of the image of "La Diva de la Banda."
The role gave Vanegas the opportunity to portray a real person within a story deeply connected to Mexican-American culture. Mariposa de Barrio also became a major production for Telemundo, ranking as the No. 1 Spanish-language program in its time slot among key adult demographics in the United States.
In 2018, Vanegas joined Telemundo’s Al Otro Lado del Muro as Santiago Suárez. The series directly explored themes of immigration, displacement, and the challenges faced by those attempting to rebuild their lives after crossing the border into the United States. The production was later recognized with a nomination at the International Emmy Awards.
His career brought him back to Mexico in 2018, when he traveled to Mexico City to film Relatos Guadalupanos, a production made for Cinelatino and directed by Carlos Santos. He portrayed Jaime as part of the film’s principal cast.
In 2026, he returned to the screen as Lucas Peña in the independent short film Stake, written and directed by Landon D’Alessandro and Ethan Malka. The story follows two childhood friends who, years later, confront the meaning of a promise they made when they were young and the distance between the lives they imagined and the ones they ultimately built.
Throughout his career, Alexis Vanegas has worked across different genres and formats, from Spanish-language television productions to independent film, building a career that spans Mexico and the United States.
Vanegas continues to develop his work as an actor while preparing for a new chapter in his career, with upcoming projects yet to be announced.
